The Dutch Braid
Dutch braids a gorgeous twist on the classic French plait. But don’t worry it’s easy to do yourself! Make sure to brush your hair smooth until it’s free of knots. Then, part into three clean, even sections. To keep stray hairs in place, add some hairspray or styling product to give you a smooth finish.
To start, cross the right section under the middle section of hair, and then cross the left section under the new middle section. Repeat this process by adding thin sections of hair from left to right. To achieve the perfect Dutch braid, make sure you cross the hair under not over.

The Braided Headband Hairstyle
For this look you will need no accessories – just your own hair! The great thing about this plaited look is that it works on all hair lengths and is the perfect style to wear half up and half down.
The best time to create this look is straight after you have washed your hair, but damp or dry hair works fine too. Section a large piece of hair roughly from your crown to behind your ears. Then, split your hair into three equal strands before starting to cross the left section over the middle section, and then the right section over the new middle section. Use this braiding technique until you run out of hair. Secure the braid with a hair tie and pin the end of the plaited ponytail behind your ear with a bobby pin.
For a thicker and flatter look, use the ‘pancake technique’ – gently pull at the sections of the braid to loosen it. This technique does what it says on the tin, it makes your hair lie flatter, just like a pancake!
Fishtail Plaits
Fishtail plaits can be worn sleek and smooth like a mermaid or tousled and chunky for a bo-ho look. If this is your first time doing a fishtail braid then maybe try with a side ponytail to start, and work up to your ideal fishtail plait look. Split your hair into two smooth, equal parts before creating a much smaller third section from the outside of the ponytail. Then, pull the small section across the top of the larger section from left to right. You will then need to repeat this process from right to left.
Repeat these steps until you run out of hair and secure with a hair tie. Spritz with a finishing product to keep your beautiful fishtail braid in place. But don’t worry if your plait looks messy or tousled this creates the trendy relaxed plaited look.
