Working Towards Becoming the First Local Net-Zero Salon
At mova salons, we pride ourselves on our commitment to sustainability, striving to become the first net-zero salons in the area.
Our eco-friendly approach includes using natural and organic products from Davines, which are free from harmful chemicals; reducing water usage using innovative Ecoheads shower heads; and working with the Vish colour management system to reduce nasty chemicals going into our water systems.
Indeed, our whole team is focused on sustainability. We use energy-efficient tools, recycle materials, and support local eco-friendly initiatives. We are also devoted to education and transparency, helping clients make sustainable choices for their hair care.
As the first salon in the area working towards becoming net-zero, we are leading the way in sustainable beauty practices. We are working with the Net Zero Salons Programme which guides us through the process of calculating, tracking and reducing greenhouse gas emissions through tailored carbon reduction plans for both our salons.
Our dedication to sustainability is reflected in every aspect of our operations. We use natural and organic products from Davines which ensures safer haircare for our clients and staff. We have also implemented innovative environmentally-friendly technologies including:
Ecoheads shower heads which are engineered to increase water pressure while using less water. They achieve this by creating a more efficient water flow, which means that clients can enjoy a powerful rinse using less water compared to conventional shower heads. Plus, when it comes to washing our bowls, we save up to 2 litres of water for every sink we use that is full of washing up!
Using the Vish colour management system which tracks the amount of colour used for each service and generates reports on usage patterns. This data helps our salon optimise inventory management and order the right quantities, preventing overstocking and reducing waste. Since introducing this system in 2020 we have used nearly 50% less hair colour product.
Recycling as much of our waste as possible to reduce our environmental footprint.
Educating our clients to make sustainable hair care choices, empowering them to contribute to environmental preservation.
Incentivising our 20-strong team and future generations of hairdressers to be more energy efficient by recycling, reducing water and heating consumption, and even riding to work.
