TIP 1:  Try on lots of hats so you can find out which styles, sizes and colours suit you.

TIP 2: Find a hat that compliments your outfit.

TIP 3: Avoid large hats if you are petite or have a small face. Avoid small hats if you are tall or have larger proportions.

TIP 4: Steer clear of big brimmed hats if you have short hair.  Long hair, however, can balance out a large brimmed hat and add a sense of proportion.

TIP 5: Always have a mini hair spray handy to boost your roots if you get the dreaded ‘hat hair’ = flat hair once you take your hat off!

TIP 6: Consider adding waves at the ends of your hair instead of at the roots as your hair is likely to end up a little flat on top when wearing a hat.  (See tip 5!)

TIP 7:  If you decide to wear your hair in an upstyle, chignon or ponytail, make sure it is placed where it does not interfere with the fit of your hat or fascinator. Low side chignons or side plaits can look fabulous when worn to balance out a hat worn at a tilt.
