Giuseppe

Giuseppe created the MOVA family in 2002.

Had Giuseppe not undertaken a fortnight’s work experience in a local salon aged 15, his career could have taken a very different path: ‘My father was a gardener and I had the option of following in his footsteps. But after my work placement, I just fell in love with hairdressing – and my dad said my hands were more suited to hair work than horticulture!’

An apprenticeship in a Surrey salon followed and Giuseppe stayed with the company for three years. He then moved to London to work in a Knightsbridge salon where he learned all he could about hairdressing.

Giuseppe’s life changed at the age of 22 when an opportunity arose to buy a salon in Staines-Upon-Thames. He joined forces with former colleague Lorenzo Mortellaro and together they realised the dream they had always discussed and opened Mova (an amalgamation of both surnames).  Mova opened its doors in 2002 and Giuseppe has never looked back…

A self-confessed family-man who is driven by ambition to make his loved-ones proud, Giuseppe believes that the secret to Mova’s success is its ability to evolve: ‘We never stand still as a company – we’re always keen to learn anything we can, whether it’s a new innovation we can introduce at the salon or a new technique we can bring to a client.’

Let’s find out a little more about what makes Giuseppe tick with this fun Question & Answer session…

What do you love about being a hairdresser? I like transforming people, making them feel better about themselves and more confident.  I am also an Educator so enjoy passing on my skills and knowledge to future stylists and colour technicians.

Which celebrity hair would you like to get your hands on and why?  I’d like to cut Gordon Ramsay’s hair so I can pick his brains about his business success.

Who or what inspires you to create fabulous hair?  The smile on my clients’ faces.

What is your ultimate ambition? To be recognised within the hairdressing industry for excellence and to become a business coach! One day.
