Had Giuseppe not undertaken a fortnight’s work experience in a local salon aged 15, his career could have taken a very different path: ‘My father was a gardener and I had the option of following in his footsteps. But after my work placement, I just fell in love with hairdressing – and my dad said my hands were more suited to hair work than horticulture!’
An apprenticeship in a Surrey salon followed and Giuseppe stayed with the company for three years. He then moved to London to work in a Knightsbridge salon where he learned all he could about hairdressing.
Giuseppe's life changed at the age of 22 when an opportunity arose to buy a salon in Staines-Upon-Thames. He joined forces with former colleague Lorenzo Mortellaro and together they realised the dream they had always discussed and opened Mova (an amalgamation of both surnames). Mova opened its doors in 2002 and Giuseppe has never looked back…
A self-confessed family-man who is driven by ambition to make his loved-ones proud, Giuseppe believes that the secret to Mova’s success is its ability to evolve: ‘We never stand still as a company – we’re always keen to learn anything we can, whether it’s a new innovation we can introduce at the salon or a new technique we can bring to a client.’
Let's find out a little more about what makes Giuseppe tick with this fun Question & Answer session...

I have the job of making sure the salon floor runs as smoothly and seamlessly as possible. I am approachable and I bring the familiar face for clients. Alongside this I am also the first point of contact at the desk to the salon floor and being on-hand to deliver our bespoke customer experience.
As the salon coordinator and manager, I ensure that all clients journey after check-in is as relaxed and enjoyable as possible, until the very end.

I love colour changes, balayage and can create sensational hairstyles for weddings and other special occasions.
I have been part of the Mova family for 6 years now, and love every part of it. The clients, my colleagues and all the giggles and laughs that come with it. I trained with Mova and have worked my way up to Master stylist & Senior colourist. I love making people feel amazing and better about themselves it’s amazing what just a new hairdo can do. I am qualified in colouring hair, cutting, styling and fitting extensions! I also recently completed a course to put hair up for occasions so I am looking forward to going back to the salon to practice my new techniques. I have also spent time teaching our apprentices in our very own training academy, challenging but extremely rewarding!
