It’s official, braids are back!  Celebrities including Kim Kardashian, Rita Ora and Gigi Hadid are embracing the effortlessly edgy hair trend taking over the catwalks of SS16. Braids are the perfect hairstyle to suit all hair lengths and face shapes and can be adapted for any occasion.

Think casual boxer braids by day and loosely plaited into an up do by night. You don’t need an A-Lister’s beauty team to get the look either - this easy to recreate look can be mastered at home following our step-by-step guide.

Step One- Make sure your hair is clean and knot free, blow-dry and then spritz with a little bit of texturising or styling spray.

Step Two- Part your hair down the middle as if you’re putting it into pigtails. Use a comb to achieve a smooth line and secure each section with a band or grip.

Step Three- Loosen one section and begin French braiding, whilst slowly adding more hair so the braid starts to get thicker and longer.

Step Four- Keeping working through the section, increasing the amount of hair you’re braiding. Make sure there are no stray bits of hair and the style looks best when it’s impeccable, then secure with a hairband.

Step Five- Take the other section and repeat making sure both sides of the hair are secured by hair bands. Use hairspray to ensure the style doesn’t budge.
